Obama lays down gauntlet on jobs: US President Barack Obama says his jobs act would insure the American economy against another downturn, as he challenges the Senate to pass the bill.
He told reporters at the White House that lawmakers should think "long and hard about what's at stake" before the bill goes to the Senate next week.
